A dairy cow showing typical symptoms of thiomolybdate toxicity: bare eyes, bald ears and rusty coloured coat, usually mis-diagnosed as copper deficiency.

What the Bolus Does

The unique shape of the bolus means it is not regurgitated, reducing cost of re-bolusing. Period of efficacy up to 6 months; less frequent bolusing saves time & money.

Constant rate of release maintains animal performance and reduces dip in weight gain at weaning, turn-out, etc.

Bolusing will fit around existing regime and suit any system.

Properly functioning metabolism increases efficiency of utilisation - money spent on high quality feed is used not wasted. Better DLWG = quicker to finishing/market = profit.

Healthy lambs - reduces time, effort and money spent on sick animals.

Reduced morbidity reduces cost of death and vet treatments for sick animals.

Zinc is also essential for sexual maturity, reproductive capacity, and more specifically, onset of oestrus - ewe lambs can be put into lamb more easily.

There are no significant stores of body zinc, so the animal must rely on a daily supply to meet requirements.

How Does Zincosel Do It?

The Telsol bolus shape and weight is designed to stay in the reticulum. The unique glass formulation lasts for up to six months, dissolving at a slow but constant rate. It is the only true dissolving bolus leaving absolutely no residues at all. Some boluses leave Fe or poly-carbonates which may cause unseen side-effects. The constant rate of release into rumen maintains animal performance.

Zincosel contains zinc. Zinc is an essential component of over 200 enzyme systems, including energy metabolism, protein synthesis, and vitamin A & E utilization. Sufficient zinc enables the metabolism to work more efficiently and improves growth rate / production of livestock and improves body condition.

In addition, zinc plays a major role in disease resistance and immune response. Strong immune defence keeps animals healthier and reduces costs of treating sick animals.

Zinc is also known to be essential for sexual maturity, reproductive capacity, and more specifically, onset of oestrus. Improved reproductive health reduces costs of fertility treatments.

There are no significant stores of body zinc, so the animal must rely on a daily supply to meet requirements.

The bolus also contains selenium which is released into the rumen, taken up by micro-organisms and converted from inorganic Se to organic seleno-methionine /seleno-cysteine. Selenium is easily up-taken as an organic compound (more bio-available) but not as easily when it is inorganic. Most Se supplements are not delivered directly into the rumen or pass through the rumen quickly and therefore have to be converted to an organic compound before they are administered.

Selenium promotes healthy immune system and prevents White Muscle Disease.

Cobalt is also included in Zincosel – released in to rumen at constant rate. Micro flora use Co to synthesise Vit B12 which improves energy metabolism and increases appetite. More efficient metabolism and bigger feed intake increases DLWG in relation to feed given.

Individual advice from Telsol on diets and levels of mineral feeding ensure that animals are not being over or under supplemented to impair perforance.
